Lisa Edelstein is an American actress, best known for her roles on the Fox medical show, House. Raised in Wayne within a conservative Jewish tradition, she moved to New York City at the age of eighteen to study theater at Tisch School of the Arts. She was very active in the club scene in New York City, and was able to be noticed by the media. While doing so she became more aware of AIDS and its devastating impacts. Then she used her experience and fame to compose and write the musical Positive Me and also starred in it. Soon after, she was offered an interview with MTV, hosting Awake on the Wild Side. Once Awake on the Wild Side had stopped being aired, she began to act in films and on television, initially in brief parts. Gradually, her career as an actress grew.
