Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28, 1967. Her family is the fourth Roberts family who been a resident of Atlanta. This began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was a farm. Her father took keen interest from a young age in theater. He performed on the Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force, and was stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi, he appeared in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter was enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter worked for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family moved to Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They financed the production their own. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for 6 years. They had two more children. Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known as Julie).
